Farm Life

Postby Michelle N. » 12th July 2010, 15:21

Dear Zambia,

i have a question why do we pay land rates and service charges especially in farm areas where we have to drill our own bore holes, pay for our own Zesco poles to be erected(crossing ur fingers so that u might only need one pole) and we also have to make contributions before and after rainy season to have our roads graded!!!So why do we pay service charge and land rates when clearly we are self sustaining citizens!!!

land rates!! why do you pay them, when you are at the farms?
the councill need to pay their workers and also its law that they are paid.for the graded RDs if yu stopt using them then no one wud want to charge any one for the works to be carried out.
my regards to you dear, its life and thts the way things are

Mishelle,
The land you call your farm is not entirely yours. It belongs to the Government and only leasd to you for 14 or 99 years depending on the type of Title you have obtained. It is therefore imparetive for you to pay Rent in the name of ground rates.
