Dominus vobiscum.... Et cum spiritu tuo

Postby fulufute » 27th September 2017, 17:15

Dear Zambia,

It's Latin, boys.

It's an ancient salutation and blessing used by the Roman Catholic clergy.

Dominus vobiscum (The Lord be with you). To which the response is Et cum spiritu tuo (And with thy spirit).

This salutation is used in Catholic mass to this day. Prior to 2011 the response was "And also with you." But is 2011 the Holy See (Pope Benedict XVI) issued the instruction known as Liturgiam Authenticam. The instruction required that such original Latin phrases like Et cum spiritu tuo should be reinstated with their appropriate translations

Leave it to the Catholics to over dramatize even total rubbish. They are experts at doing so.

And if you think I'm exaggerating here just look the word "Transubstantiation". It is a uniquely Catholic idea and is loaded with bullshit like you wouldn't believe
