Dear Zambia,
I was thinking, why dont we have really famous people performing here? Justin Bieber is gonna perform in south africa, why cant we have him perform here? Not only Justin Bieber but other artists too. Like Beyonce. She can come here, perform in a concert, maybe checkout the victoria falls and who knows? She might tell her friends about zambia and they might come too. Maybe more tourists would be coming to see the victoria falls. And zambia would develop that way right? Isnt there some kind of way to contacts artists and bring them here? What do you think? :)) x

In an odd sort of way, I'm glad to see no famous celebrities lounging around in Zambia. If I saw any one of the mentioned people (Justin Berber, Bouncy, etc etc), I would be sad at how shallow Zambians have become. But these people's absence from Zambia gives me hope that perhaps Zambia is one of the last frontiers in the world of people with depth of mind.

zambians and their victoria falls and copper. what and where would we be if we didnt have these? been to vic falls a couple of times. it's nice the first two days then thereafter you see the real unkempt and scruffiness of what zambia is. tourists come here out of curiosity and a sense of adventure but have you seen their niagra falls in the US? beautiful place. if beyonce came to perform here, where would she do it? mulungushi conference hall? you gots to be kidding. or is it the barclays sports club ground?

i love this country and there are a million positive things to be thankful for and proud of but there are just some things that disturb me about our nation. we have no one but ourselves to blame 4 the miserable state of affairs we are in and i tend to think the system here is somewhat designed to stifle real progress. i live in my own house i built, i drive a decent ride and can afford to eat more than three meals a day at any day of the month but the squalour around me is hard to ignore

good for you, mate! Although if you would like some advice from a fellow 3 meals+ chubby man like myself, please ease up on the snacks and the morning sausages. Soon enough, your belly will become a permanent obstruction between your eyes and your toes. You can even step in cow manure and not know about it because you never see your feet. I kid you not. Just because you can afford too much food should not mean that you should consume it all.

Its really a sad thing to believe that over 45 years after independence, we still have that ram shackle called Lusaka International Airport, Roads are poor. How do you expect insfrastructure development when the government in power just thinks of roads in an election year? There is a curse in Zambia. Look at Jburg, Cape Town, East London, Port Elizabert, Durban....How did they manage to put up such beautiful infrastructure? Shame on our politicians. The airport in East London is far much better than ours in Lusaka, yet East London is not even a provincial capital of the Eastern Cape

i kinda like Lusaka airport in a wierd sort of way... when i come back from say Europe or USA, its always refreshing to enter an airport where u know exactly where u are going. no puzzle, no hussle. uncomplicated and somewat welcoming. beats Atlanta airport by far!ati concorse wat, ka sitima mu airport!!! iyayi.

ba Muntu you gave me quite a chuckle. ati kasitima mu airport. ha! I know exactly what you mean. Some of those western airports are just ridiculously fancy and confusing. You can get lost and if you are not lucky, you get picked up by the airport cops for acting suspiciously. In this post 9-11 era, if they catch you on camera looking dazed, that's it. You are a terrorist.

But this is what I don't get about our beloved Zambia. I was just reading a pot in another thread about how Zambia has become a country of big time players. How Zambia used to be a country of corollas but not it is saturated with range rovers, Beemers and other high end vehicles. How so many Zambians are living large. Yes indeed, I have seen evidence of this myself. So if individual Zambians have managed to increase their personal wealth, why doesn't it seem to translate to the nation as a whole? Why is there so much decay in the nation's infrastructure? Have we become a nation of plunderers where each man for himself and damn the nation?
