Re: Mercury "Express" Logistics

I also recently had a bad experince with Mercury Logistics Kitwe. I ordered 2 phones from UK with a difference of two weeks between the order dates, the first one came a month after it arrived at their UK office and they even sent me text when it arrived. After waiting for over 6 weeks and making numerous visits to their office the second phone arrived in Lusaka, they told me it wud be in Kitwe after a week, I went there after a week only to be told my phone was not part of the parcels that came and was still in Lusaka. It was over 3 weeks and this so called "Express" logistics company had failed to send a package from Lusaka to kitwe where vehicles take 5 hours to reach , I had to come and get it from Lusaka on my own, all the while a workmate was praising them because during the same period I was waiting he managed to get his phone in 2 weeks. These guys are pathetic, they need system that works.

Dear Ruth,

I also have the same problem. I have all the documents, proof of delivery by the seller to their UK offices. 3 months down the line nothing. The most annoying thing is lack of courtesy, when you call their customer care the keep referring you to other departments, who in turn put you on hold until you airtime runs out with nothing solved, and yet they claim to provide such a service as "express logistics".

Like seriously i don't see how just being polite and checking with their UK counterparts can be such a problem. I have sent a number of emails, i get the same response "...online team please help the client!"

What i would like to find out is can i get some form of court help with these guys? Can they be sued for failing to come through from their end of the contract? None performance perhaps so that i can get restitution?

It is a shame to share such rude and useless opinion on a public side.

It really seems like GPS Logistics Couriers - Zambia
Is quite expensive. ..I had a conversation with them via facebook.
> Dear sir/madam
Assuming that I want to purchase an item which weighs 1Kg how
much can that costs me to ship it here in Zambia?

Response I got

>. A 1 kg parcel would cost
$96.99. If the item contains a lithium ion battery
(e.g. cell phone), it is considered a dangerous
good and an extra $25 is charged. Thank you.

Mars

do what I do. I contact an old friend who lives in the USA and he sends me the goods and and I pay his brother who lives in Zambia.

Word of caution, never trust anyone who calls himself a Christian. As long as your friend is not a Christian you can trust him.

mercury express has by far the most unreliable, disrespectful and useless customer service consultants!!!! they clearly dont know how to do their job, mercury has lost a couple of my parcels and all they do is give useless excuses and say they will get intouch with mercury in the uk,in this time and age can it honestly take 1month to get intouch with your sister company??their supervisors really need to look into these call centre agents who answer the phone like they been forced!!! if you dont like your job stop and let people with better experience and manners handle customer queries....highly irritated

I lost a parcel last year with mercury. When I went to inquire they told me I need to allow at least 8 weeks that is when they consider a parcel officially lost. And so I waited 8 weeks and not a day later before I went back to inquire again. They told me I had missed my window of opportunity to make a claim. I should have made the claim within the first 5 weeks. I reminded them that they are the ones who told me to wait 8 weeks and their response was, what 8 weeks? I was flabbergasted. Not to mention pissing angry.

The best move for my MI6 friend is to go into Mercury and ask for the manager. Ask the chap if he knows who you are or the issue you raised. When the bastard say "no", SLAP the chap really hard and walk out!

He doesn't know you and he cannot report a person he knows not!

I have used Mercury since the name was born in Zambia. For sure, when you are talking of things like phones, rings wrist watches, viagra, toys, shirts and lastly sweets; they are the best to go. It takes about 2 weeks. But if you talk of "tangible" things, i mean machines....look elsewhere and FedEX are a good option because one works on time. Mercury's price is a give away and you would laugh all the way home or to your office. Mercury is just a bunch of few loafers employed by some virtual person who has this nice skill of ensuring that goods whether small or big will find there way home where they belong but without much respect on time.

My only bad experience with Mercury is that the girls they employee are too on top of themselves and wouldn't rely consider their customer as such may be because education is very important in the execution of any jobs.

I have always given respect to white people. If you walk in their premises, there is this warmth, they would offer you what you really would need in a hurry like water or coffee and just that welcome note that goes with them. Mercury is typical of our black culture in terms of business interaction with customers. In fact they are near to bank employees. Much as they see and count, bank and cash billions of other people's money, most of them think bigs way out of their duties.

Therefore, if you want to get small things, use mercury, but for bigger things, FeDEX are way better and DHL are just bunch of shit. I mean in Zambia.

Ive used Mercury many times and the service is somewhat erratic, sometimes parcels arrive quickly , sometimes slowly and sometimes never. What is consistent is the bad service from their office staff in NDOLA - very unhelpful and rude - cant't think why the boss employs them unless he wants his business to fail.
Im also looking around for an alternative - will give oneworld a try
