The expression “the gates of hell”. stupid. so, so stupid

Postby logic » 7th February 2019, 12:24

Dear Zambia,

Let us only for the sake of argument, say that there is a hell. Ok? Ok.

Now this hell is supposedly a stinking and unbelievably hot inescapable dungeon where no normal human being would wish to dwell.

Now tell me. why would hell need a gate? Who does hell want to keep out?

No seriously, why would anybody walk up to these gates of hell and say, can you please open these damn gates and let me in?

The whole idea of the gates of hell is nonsensical. Let’s face it

To be fair, the gates of heaven are also an illusion. But at least they are logical.

heaven, for those who are delusional enough to believe in it, is a warm, sunny and cushy kind of utopia.

A utopia yes, but it’s understandable that a delusional person would aspire to get to heaven. Delusional, but given the equally delusional descriptions of that heaven, it is logical to want to be in heaven. if one is appropriately delusional.

But the whole idea of hell makes no sense whatsoever. because delusion meets nonsense in the same exact spot
