Most miners plan poorly. Some government workers who earn less than some miners live better.

Labour laws prescribe the minimum wage and no miner gets anything below minimum wage. Enter the Unions. These guys are supposed to negotiate on behalf of the workers who subscribe on a monthly basis to the union. Now, if workers are not satisfied with the salary and other conditions, the union is the place to go - thats why you pay monthly subscriptions. I will let you in on a little secret, the union executives enjoy better conditions than you do from the money they collect from you. Smell the coffee!

WELL, MINERS BEING NEGLECTED MEANS MORE THAN TO DO WITH THE MINIMUM WAGE:THERE IS A MINIMUM LIVING WAGE AND A MINIMUM WAGE;LIVING WAGE IS HIGHER THAN THE ZAMBIAN MINIMUM WAGE NO WONDER MINING FIRMS ESPECIALLY UNIONISED ARE NOT REALLY CRITICISED THROUGH PERSPECTIVE OF MINIMUM WAGE WHICH TODAY AT K419,000.00 BUT THROUGH ATLEAST A LIVING WAGE WHICH MEETS THE BASIC NEEDS BASKET AND THIS IS SOMEWHERE ABOVE K1,800,000.00
MEANING THE MINIMU WAGE IS SUPPOSED TO BE SOMEWHERE AROUND K1,800,000.00;NO WONDER THE MINIMUM TAX FREE SALARY IS K1,000,000.00 AND NOT K419,000.00;IT'S ACTUALLY SUPPOSED TO BE ATLEAST K1,800,000.00;

NOW THE MINERS' SALARIES ARE INHIBITED BY LACK OF POLITICAL WILL FROM THE GOVT THRU MINISTRY OF LABOUR,AND THE ZDA IN THE NAME OF CREATING A FAVOURABLE INVESTMENT CLIMATE AND KICKBAKS TAKEN BY THE MMD GOVT FROM INVESTORS SO THAT THE LATTER ARE NOT PUSHED THRU LABOUR LEGISLATION AND REASONABLE AND EFFICIENT TAXATION THAT FAVOURS EMPLOYEES
>IN SHORT IT'S THE MMD GOVT THAT REGULATES THE LEVELS OF SALARIES IN MINING SECTOR THROU MINISTRY OF FINANCE,MIN. OF MINES AND MIN. OF LABOUR AND MIN. OF COMMERCE BY GETTINGF BRIBES FROM INESTORS FOR PERSONAL REASONS AT THE EXPENSE OF MINERS

WE NEED TO CHANGE GOVT ON 20 SEPT.2011 BECAUSE 20YRS OF MMD IS TOO MUCH NOT BECAUSE THEREIS A FOREIGN PRESIDENT LEADING US ZAMBIANS SO THAT BETTER SALARIES CAN COME ABOUT.
