Zambian Embassies

Postby Mwana Chinondo » 5th July 2010, 19:01

Dear Zambia,

I wonder why we are still appointing unqualified people to posts at the embassies around the world. Every person has a story to tell about some demotivated or incompetent official who gives you lousy service. This is just ridiculous. It's the same in Washington DC, London, Pretoria, Harare etc. They just suck.

Please let's get professional people in these jobs not "babululu"!

I agree with, the Zambian embassy in London is just PATHETIC. When i was living in the UK about a year ago and was trying to follow up the progress on my new passport this is what would happen....... when you call the embassy before lunch nobody would pick up. When you call after lunch they would pick up but tell you that the person who is supposed to attend to you is not back from lunch "Please call after 30 minutes" so you call after 30 minutes and they tell you okey let me transfer you call to the right person. Then the phone would ring and ring and ring then eventually go to voice mail.......and guess what? the voice mail would be full and you wouldn't even be able to leave your message......believe me i never succeeded until someone gave me the mobile number of someone who works there...........even in a foreign country surely we can't learn from the way our friends do things?????????/ Zambian high commission in London 0%

Shameful indeed that such poor work cultures would be transferred even to a foreign nation.
I hope these people are seeing our comments and they'll motivate them to change.

Now picture this………….. I dropped off some passport forms at the Zambian embassy in DC but was told “We have run out of receipt books so we shall send your receipt in the mail.” Funny right!!! Being the nice understanding person I am, I went home and patiently waited for the receipt to come in the mail. After a month of waiting with no avail, I took another trip to the embassy to see if they had lost my address. Lucky me I found the one finger typing lady at the reception desk who is always eager to help everyone that come in (YEAH RIGHT!!!!!). I immediately knew nothing good would come out of this visits, but was really quite unprepared for the actual response that I got…………… Yaba!!!!! Anyway, I asked her if I could get the receipt which I had been waiting for for over a month………. You know what this incompetent woman said to me???????

“ (In a very deep Zambian accent) Ya, it must be in this pile of papers right here (pointing to a batch of papers sitting on the desk in front of her). I have just sorted them out and I am very sick today, can you come back tomorrow.”

Haaaaaaaaaaaaa. I laugh now, but it was not so funny then. She didn’t even have to get up off her a**

yo nafuti,,,, I empathize. Really. If that nice Zambian lady in DC could not even get up from her a**, I hope at least you managed to arrange to have some of her a** for the evening, yeah?

I tell you what bro. The problem is americanization. These lovely nice girls come from Zambia to DC. But within a few months, they see too many bright city lights and they start acting like every minute they are on the job, their mama is calling them for a dinner with nsima and chicken. They are so impatient and jittery.

I'm compelled to say something on this issue. I thought that when one is out of the country it's easier to get passports sorted out, in case they expire, (or at the rate we change ours in Zambia from one colour to another!!) or need to get a new enhanced featured-one. but boy was I wrong! My cousin has been abroad for a while and had to get a new passport thru the Zambian Embassy. After applying for another passport in 2008 and many months of following up, the passport forms where misplaced and had to apply again and the whole process took over 12 months, so could no longer travel obviously during this period. Upon calling me this year (2010!) I followed up with the local office. Two (2) months or so after moving from office-to-office, the passport was FINALLY produced. What a rotten way of doing things. Zambians! can we change this pathetic way of doing work.

JT, i'd strongly advise you not to submit your contact info. What if ba Maru is in fact a shushushu of the worst kind? No, my friend, submitting your info to this shady character seems like a bad idea, to me. You never know, maybe he just wants to zero in on you and harass you for your unkind words about the embassy. If I was you, i'd give this Maru shadowy figure, a very very wide berth.

shushushu Maru, stop it already. Stop stalking people on the Internet.
Do your handlers pay you by commission? maybe the more people you can lure into your trap the bigger your paycheck for this month. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Go harass the englishmen if you have time on your hands.

What are embassies supposed to do for their nationals again?
Especially the Zambian ones. Maybe we expet too much from them. Dont think people workin their know either. I pity their bosses, imagine leading a team that doesntperform. Do they give reports and Statistics?wonder what they say. two years for a passport application, i even experienced people buried as paupers by local govt coz they have no money to assist. yet come parties, cash is found and people pay good sums for services. sad!!

Zambian Embassies are there to entertain shady leaders from home who come in flocks and treat the embassies like they were private property.....and the embassies help these same leaders make shady private business deals.....a languishing zambian citizen wanting a new passport is therefore totally unwelcome....unless he has a femous name like....????!!!!!!eeehhhh!!! you know what I mean....

Can someone please give the latest on how the dual citizenship prospects are looking in the Zambian constitution? Any chance this will become reality?

Not that I expect much from RB and his wrecking crew. Their specialty seems to be theft and screwing up the government, that's all. Lord have mercy.
