Ghana 'scandalised' by World Cup fans' Brazil asylum bid

Ghana's government has said it is "scandalised" after 200 Ghanaian World Cup fans asked for asylum in Brazil, saying they were Muslims fleeing religious conflict.

A government statement said there was no religious violence in the country.

The group are believed to be part of a government-sponsored delegation, mainly comprising supporters of the governing party.

Ghana is seen as one of West Africa's most peaceful and prosperous countries.

"The basis for this alleged request is completely false as no religious conflict is taking place in Ghana," said a statement from Deputy Information Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

"Ghana's mission in Brazil has been instructed to liaise with the Brazilian authorities to investigate the matter."

Lusaka-born Margaret Mwila Buter told The Post in an interview from London that she felt privileged to be the first Zambian-born to make history and get into the British political system.

Buter, who hails from Chinsali in Muchinga Province, is also a great-great-great-great-granddaughter of King Mukulumpe of the Luba Empire through his marriage to Mumbi Mukasa

Africa especially zambia is a better place to stay in.
Every year tourist from all over the world especially wazunguz enjoy coming to africa and here in zambia the rate of visitors (wazunguz) coming to zambia has gone up.
I had many incidents were some wazungu women wanted me to marry them so that they would acquire zambian citizenship and I turned them down.

Ever since these incidents occurred it keeps me guessing that some of these wazunguz pretend to be tourists and yet they are simply looking to settle down in a remote place and that's word.

mr zambia ,
you are either very stupid or very confused. I can't quite tell which is which. You are talking about tourism and europeans choosing to settle in Zambia. You really do not understand the issue at hand.

Many people in the so called developed world choose to settle in poor countries especially when they retire. The money they made in their own country can go much further in poor countries because of the lower cost of living. It doesn't work the other way around. Most people who have lived all their lives in this "PARADISE" called Zambia, can't afford the same shit that those Westerners can afford right here on our home ground.

The issue here about Africans escaping for greener pasture is a problem that we Africans have yet to solve. The reason that drives Africans abroad is perennial poverty here at home. If we can solve that problem, we can do whatever the f*ck we want. Just like the europeans and americans and australians and chinese do.

This is not about idiotic muzungus. This is about us the Africans and what we can and should do to change our world record breaking poverty.

I saw a video clip on TV today of the refugees from Gaza. There was a Black child among them. Blacks are not indigenous to Palestine. So whoever that Black child is, her parents must have escaped some hell hole in Africa. Imagine what a hell hole. To prefer another hell hole like Palestine.

Israel 'coercing Eritreans and Sudanese to leave'

Israel is unlawfully coercing almost 7,000 Eritrean and Sudanese nationals into leaving the country at great personal risk, Human Rights Watch says.

They have been denied access to fair and efficient asylum procedures and detained unlawfully, a new report says.

Earlier this year, African asylum seekers in Israel staged mass protests over their treatment.

Israel says its policies on illegal immigrants and refugees comply with international law.

It insists that the Africans are not asylum seekers but economic migrants who see Israel as an attractive destination because it is the nearest developed country where they can find jobs.

'Illegal infiltrators'
Eritreans and Sudanese began arriving in Israel through Egypt's Sinai Peninsula in large numbers in 2006. By December 2012, about 37,000 Eritreans and 14,000 Sudanese had entered the country.

HRW says that over the past eight years, the Israeli authorities have employed various measures to encourage them to leave.

They include "indefinite detention, obstacles to accessing Israel's asylum system, the rejection of 99.9% of Eritrean and Sudanese asylum claims, ambiguous policies on being allowed to work, and severely restricted access to healthcare", it alleges.

In September 2013, the Israeli Supreme Court ruled that a 2012 amendment to an anti-infiltration law, which allowed for the indefinite detention of people for illegal entry, was unlawful.

In response, the Israeli parliament passed another amendment to the law in December that established the Holot facility in the remote Negev desert for those considered "infiltrators".

Hundreds of Eritreans and Sudanese have since been ordered to report to the centre, where they live in conditions that HRW says breach international law on arbitrary detention.

The Israeli authorities say they are not detained because they can leave for a few hours at a time. However, they are required to report three times a day and to be in the centre at night. The only way for them to secure their release is to be recognised as a refugee or leave the country.

In February 2013, Israel allowed Eritreans and Sudanese to lodge asylum claims in significant numbers. However, as of March 2014, the authorities had only reviewed slightly more than 450 "detainee" cases, and the rejection rate has been almost 100%, HRW says.

"Destroying people's hope of finding protection by forcing them into a corner and then claiming they are voluntarily leaving Israel is transparently abusive," said Gerry Simpson, senior refugee researcher at Human Rights Watch and author of the report.

"Eritreans and Sudanese in Israel are left with the choice of living in fear of spending the rest of their days locked up in desert detention centres or of risking detention and abuse back home."

HRW says Israel is violating the international principle of "non-refoulement", which forbids states from returning refugees and asylum seekers to places where their lives or freedom would be threatened.

In response to the report, the Israeli foreign ministry said: "Israel treats illegal migrants entering its territory in accordance with international law, including the UN treaty on refugees.

"Illegal migrants are able to file a request to be granted the status of refugees, and can also appeal the decision by the Israeli authorities regarding their status to the Israeli courts," it said.

Migrants had not been expelled, the statement said, adding that those who had left had chosen to do so "of their own free will".

One of the characteristics of a normal living being is that it responds to stimulation.

If a person doesn't respond to an uncomfortable environment by relocating or amending his environment or himself then he must die.

The people of Europe in 1492 booked out and located a comfy jointy they called America by accident.

In 1776 the inhabitants of America didn't like their environment and decided to change their management. Patrick Henry said "Give me liberty or give me death". He got liberty.

In 1849 the west of America was flooded in the gold rush. Those chaps were not styopet, they wanted a better life, saw opportunity and grabbed it by the balls.

When you put up artificial barriers you don't karral the human spirit.

Just as we have Africans heading to Europe and USA so we have Europeans and Asians heading for Africa.

The first person to whine about Africans invading Europe should ask the native Americans about how they feel.

voldemort

There is a different between an argument purely for academic purposes and an argument that reflects the reality. Those Asians and europeans come to Africa with or without loads of cash. In any case they thrive and are treated as royalty by the Africans. Africans in europe, middle east and asia are treated like shit. That's the reality.

Mr zambia is too dumb to take advice, learn and move on. The chap will defend styopidity to the hilt as if its someryhing to be proud of.

Fellows in cyber space, should I cock the English language up, feel free to correct my errors.

When I write term instead of tame, bans instead of buns, truck instead of track or should I write German as Germany or fan for fun, take the mikey out.
