Interesting comments.
I too used to maintain a savings account with Standard Chartered Bank. The moment I noticed these day light robberies, I visited the atm and got whatever the machine can give me and bolted. Since then I have never looked back. Money is hard to come by in this country such thefts by a bank can not be toleranted. Quit writing and march out before they milk you to your last ngwee.

It sounds to me that many of these banks have our politicians in their pockets. Otherwise how do you explain such blatant violation of consumer rights by these sharks? A responsible government should have enough regulations to protect ordinary citizens. The Zambian government is failing in this regard. I want to say it's due to incompetence. But I really suspect there is something more stinky about this whole thing. Bribery, kickbacks and all sorts of gluttonic foolery.
