It's all the fault of the PF bastards and their cousins the MMD buffoons before them. The only reason we can't blame Unip for this is because they left power when we were still in the dark age of pre-Internet. Although I place the blame of ruining Zambia's economy squarely on the shoulders of that ex dictator Kaunda and his bullshit socialism experiment.

ba fumbeshi, "there's a proverb mu chibemba ati mwikala patalala mwine apatalalika"

you might in fact be right in your observation. however, i don't know what those rants in here will yield. unless if you feel the need to vent, in which case you've my empathy

i was in zambia recentry and one of phenomenon is that most people are scared of speaking to "authorities" , they complain a lot among themselves but ain't willing to confront the cause.

what have you done to address the mediocre service you're paying for?

may be i just have a bigh mouth or bigger balls i don't know... i work hard for my $$ and if i am gonna part ways with some of it, you sure have to give me something of value in return. it's that simple for me

i had an interesting meeting with zamtel at manda hill. don't let the gate keepers prevent you from speaking to someone who actually has answers and is a decision maker.

so my friend you're right at being pissed off and frustrated with the service and believe me i feel your pain. now take some time and gather some facts and walk into one of these establishments demand, that's right, demand a meeting by asking to speak with the branch manager. trust me you'll get somewhere that way. i found the ones i dealt with were actually very understanding and professional, just don't be an arse (rude) when you talk to them.

ba Mukolwe,
you say and I quote: "mwikala patalala mwine apatalalika"

may I please ask you not to be a tribal hog and to release the code of your saying in our common language of English? Thank you kindly.

ba Mukolwe,

Thanks. You could have taken a short cut and told me to f*ck off. Thanks anyway. I read your entire damn post but as I said, I do not have the slightest clue what your non-English sentence said. So of the many things you said, I can't even figure which one pertains to that mystery words. And I will have to e-mail someone thousands of miles away or call them on the telephone to get a translation I could have gotten out of you. I'm nowhere near anyone who could translate that for me.

Ok now just listen to me bitching about shit. Hey ba Mukolwe, don't even pay me no mind. It was simply curiosity. I know I will not suffer anything for not knowing.

ba namsongole, after reading your last post, i can tell you're being sincere. initially i thought you were just being a "funny"

mwikala patalala mwine apatalalika means that you've to live in the environment that you've created or if you want to live in peace, you've to create that peace.... it was me pointing out to ba lazarus that for the services to improve, he needs to confront the right people, that it's to vent but if is looking for improvements he ought go to the source and have a talk with them about what you're not happy with

it's somewhat similar to "you made your bed now lay in it" though the later pertains to self-inflicted problems.

so the literal translation is " if you want to live in quietness, YOU must create a quite environment"

i hope i've helped clarify this for you and it's now clear.... or is it clear as mud lol

ba Mukolwe,
I thank you my brother. I will archive that one in my collection.

Perhaps I can share a similar saying in nyanja. " pa msasa sa nyelapo". Msasa is a traditional make-shit hut people built in the bush as a camping site during hunting expeditions. Many of these msasa would be used over and over again. The so adage cautions people not to defecate all over the camp site on their last day of the hunting expedition because they may come back to a foul smelling camp next time.
