CORRUPT TRAFFIC OFFICERS

Postby Kasosi Mpunga » 8th April 2011, 19:45

Dear Zambia,

I only hope that the IG reads this or that he could be asked about the complaint I am about to make. I have noticed for a long time that the traffic officers in Lusaka are truly and honestly corrupt and I wonder what the IG is doing about it. Many times I have used Kafue road I have noticed that sometimes there are speed traps or mere road blocks and I see that drivers merely pay the officers. I once saw a track driver get a few K50,000 and give his lorry boy who rushed and gave a police officer and off the went. The man had the audacity to even wink at me. What is the IG doing about this? What is the point of having traffic officers who are bribed and let unroadworthy cars on the road? Does this make sense?

Kasosi,

I am seriously considering filming in secret using my cellphone when I am next caught at a police checkpoint. Or ask a passenger to do that while I bribe my way through. Then, immediately send that clip to the ACC and ZP and all other media outlets like MUVI TV, etc. My aim? To get so much media coverage of the clip that the guilty cop has no option but to resign or get fired.

I will go out on a limb and declare that you have spent too much time living abroad. You think what works abroad can also work here. And this is where your fantasy begins.

Go ahead and do exactly what you say and see what happens. This is Zambia, my friend. An ex trade union midget stole millions of dollars from the Zambian public. All kinds of evidence was presented against him and his cohorts. Matrix, Katele, what-what. But in the end the little man got off scot-free. These days when you meet him, his wide smile threatens to split his small head in half. His smile is so humongous. In his kaponya style, he is laughing all the way to the bank. All the way.

That's Zambia for you.

At Kabwe roundabout (opposite PICZ),some traffic cop even parks his new BMW 3series G-string around 7:30 - 8:20hrs in the morning, while controlling traffic.I dont want to CONCLUDARING but I think a zambian regular police officer cannot afford a $15,000 car let alone maintain it ?????

-IT IS NOT CORRUPT POLICE OFFICERS, IT IS CORRUPT SOCIETY.
FOR A COP TO ACCEPT A BRIBE, SOME ONE NEEDS TO HAND IT TO HIM.
HOW MANY OF US THAT DRIVE WOULD PREFER TO PAY A FINE OF K500 000, HAVE THEIR CAR IMPOUNDED, OT PAY THE COP 50 000 AND GO HOME.
IT IS ALL OF US THAT ARE WRONG. I DONT DO IT FOR I DONT NEED TO. I RECALL ONES A COP STOPPED ME, AND HINTED FOR A BRIBE. I GAVE HIM. THE MOMENT HE TOOK THE MONEY I PULLED IT BACK FROM HIS HAND , SLAPPED HIM AND SHOUTED:
DONT EVER DO THAT AGAIN,STUPID IDIOT(LIKE KK) OR I WILL HAVE U LOCKED UP.
I WALKED OUT (OF THE TENT) AND LEFT HIM WITH A OPEN MOUTH CATCHING FLYS.
I RECALL I SLAPPED ANOTHER OFFICER, ON LUMUMBA RD, AND 5 OF THEM (NEW ONES)JUMPED IN MY VAN BEHIND AND SAID WE ARE TAKING U TO CENTRAL. SO I STARTED DRIVING , THEY STOPPED ME AGAIN AROUND THE CORNER:
STOP OUR BOSS IS HERE!
SO I STOPPED. THE BOSS JUST ASKED THEM: WHERE ARE U TAKING HER?
SHE SLAPPED ME BWANA!
I CAME OUT OF THE CAR AND SLAPPED HIM AGAIN.
THE BOSS SAID:
BA MM DONT HIT HIM IN PUBLIC, HE IS IN UNIFORM.
I SAID: TEACH HIM TO BEHAVE IF HE DOES NOT WANT TO BE SLAPPED.
SAT IN MY CAR AND WENT.

MM,

you just gave away your true ID. You must be Wonder woman, because only Wonder woman can slap a cop in Zambia and get away with it. I'm just surprised you did not shove your red boots up the cop's ass.

Madam MM! That is great, i think that is a better way of making a contribution towards fighting this corrupt police system. Join them as a Police Reserve and fight corruption from within. It is also a good way of protecting yourself from thieves. If all corrupt free people (at least those who are financially self sufficient) can join the police as reservists there can be a big defference what do others think? I will consider this when I am back in Zambia.

Matako Makando,

I agree with you entirely. What better way to fight police corruption than be a reservist who can slap them around and keep them in line.

By the way MM, what are the qualifications of being a police reservists? Do you think my occasional ganja smoking may disqualify me? Do they conduct drug tests? I can tell them it's second hand ganja smoke I inhale from hanging around too many MMD cadres.

Although to be perfectly honest, I have seen too many policemen on duty with red-shot eyes, for me to believe that a little ganja smoking can be a deal breaker when one wants to join the reservist.

MM,
Have you slapped some knotty cops lately? Please give us the nitty-gritty of your latest adventures in this fight against crooked cops. And if you delivered a knee strike to the groin of an especially knottiest of all knotty cops, do not forget to mention that as well. Thanks.

Dear Kasosi,
I pass that roundabout everyday too and I know the BMW too...it is often accompanied by an unregistered white corolla. What I see is that when there are police officers at the roundabouts, they cause more traffic than helping it move along. Why can't they for instance, catch those queue jumping ******s who fly down the slip and try to join at the corner (near Toyoata Z) or even worse, they join the roundabout from the slip lane instead of going to Cairo road?
Please bawana IG I hope you see these posts

MM: Good for you though please be careful, they might lock you up! And if a minibus can go through checkpoints and fitness without a working light on it, why should the cops care about bribes?
