Useless MPs in Zambia the case of Emmanuel Munaile

Postby Dr Mutale » 12th July 2011, 19:19

Dear Zambia,

I am a Bemba from Chitimukulu area. In the last 5 years I have visited my home village three times and was surprised to know that our area MP is Emmanuel Munaile! I talked to many people including my uncle who is one of the headmen in Chitimukulu and they confirmed that their area MP has not been there and had done little to develop the area. Indeed last week again I was in Malole constituency. The road from Kasama to Chitimukulu is a sorry site. There are so many pot-holes and the gravel road is beyond description (Hell Run)!. Then I asked myself: What is the point of having an MP who lives in Lusaka and never visits his constituency? What value is there in being an MP only to receive gratuity at the end of 5 years for nothing? What have the poor people of Malole benefited from their MP?.I see betrayal and abuse of the poor by a selfish and useless politician like Munaile. I have never heard him say anything about Malole in parliament and now the 5 years are over! I can Imagine he will get K500,000,000 gratuity for making Malole worse than he found it!
My plea is that such a useless MPs never be given any opportunity to come closer to my people in Malole in this year’s election. We need men and women who can make a difference and not just fattening themselves at the expense of poor Zambians. This betrayal and abuse of the poor should stop! Shame on you Emmanuel Munaile! If I were you I would not receive my gratuity because my conscious would never allow me!
Check out your MP in your home village!Let us expose these thugs for who they are!

I know this dude. Emmanuel M. Munaile. About 50 years old. Studied computers. I didn't know the dude is an MP. I will take him to task next time I see him.

Now that you mentioned it, this dude actually reminds me of Paul Biya, president of Cameroon. He lives in France more than half of the year. His private jet is bigger than the biggest plane of Cameroon Airlines.

Munaile was a soccer star in zambia national team. Then vice president of FAZ. Very busy man.

Aren't MPs supposed to be making laws in lusaka, doc? They are not supposed to fix roads.

Masta iwe you are missing the point. What has his soccer days got to do with anything? If he's too busy then he should not seek the MP position. What you are saying is total b***s***t. A MP has got to dedicate his entire energy to serving the people of his constituency. If he wants to be a soccer star and get special treatment then don't be a MP. full stop.

Doc,

I feel your pain.

This is why the enlightened ones like you need to take a more active role in your village, and tell the folks down there that its not about how big a name is but what the candidate will do once elected. In a way, the people who voted must shoulder the blame. The appointee is only as good as the appointor.

masta, its single-minded people like u that contribute to the deterioration of our nation, unfotunately, there's a millions of you. So what if Munaile was a soccer player and FAZ veep? If he's such a busy man as you say he is then why did he become MP? And where you serious when you asked dr Mutale ati MPs are there to make laws not roads?

The same applys to the Chawama constituency MP Rev. Bret Sampa.

The bible says love your neightbour as yourself but her love for the neighbours is shear treachery.

She is a hypocrite of the lowest order and she should even be ashamed to be called a Reverend.

The next time that Chawama people vote, they should make sure they pick out of credibility and not a party.

I hope we have learnt our lesson.

I wish there was a law which would enable us have a vote of no confidence in these chaps immediately we see that he is not performing! That way it will definately put them on their toes unlike what is prevailing now, when the chap knows that no matter what he will get his gratuity!!

The problem is not limited to Malole Constituency. Why is that so? Consider this, MMD's NEC has just adopted parliamentary candidates for the forthcoming elections. Some of them don't have the blessing of the Constituency and they know it. The attitude that emerges leads to disappointment as presented by Doc. Problem lies with the system. Your MP has to tow the party line before he thinks of you, if at all. Until and unless MP's are fully accountable to the electorate, they will continue getting the gratuity, with or without development.
