I believe in Jesus’ power to Love but not to damn

Postby Extremely local » 11th January 2019, 11:54

Dear Zambia,

That’s not my line. I stole it from Bruce Springsteen.

He was raised a Catholic but later abandoned the religion.

Later yet, he rediscovered faith and said he has... (wiki) - "a personal relationship with Jesus. I believe in his power to save, love ... but not to damn".

(me) - Meaning: he believes in Jesus to the extent of his capacity to love and teach mankind to do the same. But to hell with the idea of a hell.

(wiki) - In terms of Catholic faith, he has stated that he "came to ruefully and bemusedly understand that once you're a Catholic you're always a Catholic" and "I don't participate in my religion but I know somewhere ... deep inside ... I'm still on the team.

The last two paragraphs I labeled “wiki” are courtesy of Wikipedia.

For the record, I myself believe that the man Jesus once lived. Quite a decent guy by most accounts. However, his divinity is only a concoction of ordinary men of power. And for centuries now, they have used that fallacy very effectively
