Patriotic Front Kasama Central member of parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, popularly known as GBM, has said he beat up his wife Chama because he loves her.
Featuring on Kasama’s Radio Mano on Saturday, GBM said he had also been beaten by his wife before and even has a spine problem arising from the fight.
GBM, who spoke in Bemba, said he had apologised to his wife over his beatings and asked Zambians to intercede for him so that she could forgive him.
However, GBM, who apologised emphatically, said generally, beating a wife was normal and those condemning him had no manners because most people beat their wives and he was not the first one to do so.
He said he had travelled to Kasama to apologise over his decision to resign as member of parliament, a decision he had since rescinded.
“Firstly, I want to apologise. Mukwai nine Kalume wenu.(I am your son). I will never repeat what I did resigning,” he said.
GBM said he resigned because of communication breakdown.
