PRESIDENT Banda yesterday arrived in the country from France where he had gone to attend the Africa-France summit which he described as a success. President Banda, who arrived at the Lusaka International Airport at 18:00 hours, was welcomed by Vice-President George Kunda, First Lady Thandiwe, Cabinet ministers and other senior Government officials.
President Banda told journalists that the summit was successful and beneficial to Zambia as the delegates discussed issues on climate change, peace and development between Africa and France.
He said France, which would next year chair the G20 Summit, a group of most developed nations, had agreed to press for Africa’s interests.
The African Union would have to meet to consolidate their interests so that France could forward them to the G20 Summit, he added.
Mr Banda said the Zambian delegation also held discussions with French investors who had shown interest to invest in Zambia and were expected to start coming in the country by next week.
