Chiefs, Lafarge in support of mobile hospitals

FOUR traditional leaders have said mobile hospitals will greatly benefit the disadvantaged rural population and urged Government to ignore critics. And Lafarge Zambia, which also operates mobile clinics, has said the concept has worked well in Zambia. Senior Chief Puta of Chiengi said in an interview that the concept of establishing mobile hospitals would help provide medical services to the rural communities.
“This is a very good idea, most of the rural areas lack medical facilities, in some cases, and medical equipment is non-functional. So, as long as these hospitals will be well equipped with medicines and machinery, they will serve the rural community,” he said.
Chief Ishindi said he had no doubts mobile hospitals could prove effective in some parts of the country, especially in crowded and remote areas.
