ERB hikes fuel prices in Lusaka, Kabwe and Ndola

THE Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has hiked fuel prices in Lusaka, Kabwe and Ndola with effect from today following the introduction of the new Uniform Pump Prices (UPP) announced on Friday by President Rupiah Banda.

The new national UPP for petrol is K7,639 while diesel and kerosene will be sold at K6,999 and K5,008 respectively.

This represents an increase in pump prices from Lusaka, Ndola and Kabwe, which were until yesterday selling petrol at K7,573, K7,461 and K7,543 respectively while diesel in the three towns fetched at K6,898, K6,786 and K,6868 respectively.

The price of fuel in the rest of the country had been reduced with the Northern Province receiving the highest reduction from the current pump price of K8,390 to the new UPP.

Announcing the new prices, ERB vice board chairperson Ida Nkhoma said the regulatory body would ensure that the new prices were adhered to by all petroleum products dealers.
