Economists nod President Banda efforts on investors

ECONOMISTS and other stakeholders have welcomed President Rupiah Banda’s efforts to attract foreign investors to help in Zambia economic diversification process, saying that will help create employment opportunities and reduce poverty.
The Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ), Zambia Institute of Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR), Private Sector Development Association (PSDA) and Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) in separate interviews yesterday hailed the Government’s commitment to the diversification of the economy.
Speaking on Tuesday during the inaugural Africa investment summit in Sandton, South Africa, organised by Thomas Reuters, President Banda called on investors from across the world to invest in other sectors of the Zambia’s economy other than the mining sector.
EAZ president Isaac Ngoma said Zambia had great potential in other sectors, which could create employment opportunities and reduce the country’s poverty levels.
