Sata panics over pact

By Times Reporter

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) leader Michael Sata is reportedly making “desperate overtures” to UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema pleading with him that the two opposition political parties should reconcile and work together so that they can unseat the MMD in this year’s elections.

And UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma has said the PF and Mr Sata are now getting desperate for the pact because they are under pressure from their members as it was becoming clearer that they stand no chance in this year’s election.

Sources close to both Mr Sata and Mr Hichilema confirmed to the Times in Lusaka yesterday that Mr Sata had sent emissaries to the UPND leader with a view to resuscitate the pact.

“Mr Sata has been sending emissaries pleading that he was being misled by some of his officials in the PF and some Post Newspaper editors and that he had just realised that what had transpired was giving the MMD an upper hand.
