Catholic priest explains his love of MMD

A Catholic priest, Charles Chilinda of Saint Ignatius Parish in Lusaka has said there are priests in the Catholic Church who are willing to back the Government on a number of development activities but lack the platform to help them air their views.

Fr Chilinda, who praised President Rupiah Banda’s performance in managing the affairs of the country, also called for an urgent reconciliatory meeting between the Church and the Government to iron out perceived differences.

He said the weaknesses in the Government were being over-projected by some private media houses scheming questions with a selected group of Catholic priests during interviews to get negative responses against the Government.

Fr Chilinda said there were many priests within the Catholic Church who were willing to support the Government on a number of development activities but could not do so because they lacked the platform to help them air their views.
