Hundreds drift from PF to UPND, as UPND receives 6000 applications

A Former Patriotic Front -PF- ward councilor in Mkushi District says PF leader Michael Sata is an unreliable person who has no economic agenda for Zambia.

ZNBC reports that  Able Mschili who is former PF Nkumbi Ward Councilor was speaking in Lusaka on Tuesday when he led hundreds of PF supporters in defecting to the UPND.

Mr Mschili says he together with his colleagues have left the PF because the party cannot win this year’s elections.

And receiving the defectors UPND Vice president, Francis Simenda urged the new members to feel free to mobilise the party in various districts.

The event took place at the UPND Secretariat in Lusaka on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, over 6000 people have applied to contest on the UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) ticket in this year’s election.

According to UPND sources told the Watchdog Tuesday that the party has so far received over 6000 applicants around the country seeking to contest in all the 150 constituencies.
