RDA reallocates K33bn to Livingstone roads

Headlines

THE Road Development Agency (RDA) has reallocated about K33 billion in the 2012 road sector annual work plan for the rehabilitation of about 30 kilometres of selected urban roads in Livingstone. RDA head of public relations Loyce Saili said the rehabilitation of the roads is aimed at facilitating the successful hosting of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) general assembly next year. The general assembly will be co-hosted by Zambia and Zimbabwe in August. Ms Saili said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that RDA has since been authorised by the Zambia Public Procurement Authority to engage contractors through limited bidding as opposed to open bidding. She said limited bidding will enable the agency to expedite the procurement process and that at least six firms will soon be invited to tender for the contract.
