Cops kill 4 more thugs

AS the spate of criminal activities continue ravaging Lusaka, four armed dangerous criminals were yesterday gunned down by police after they attempted to stage a robbery around 12:00 hours in the city centre on Cairo Road.
The four criminals exchanged fire with police officers in the central business district before they fled to the industrial area where police officers pursued and shot them down, one after the other.
Police officers recovered two AK 47 rifles and 32 rounds of ammunition and K420 million that the criminals almost got away with.
Lusaka Province Police Commissioner, Solomon Jere, who confirmed the incident, said the bandits had trailed a Green Leaf company accountant who had gone to withdraw money from a named bank on Cairo Road.
He said the bandits initially shot at the vehicle which was carrying the accountant and attempted to snatch a safe containing the K420 million before alert police officers fired warning shots.
