We’re taking it easy – Mayuka

THE die is cast as Zambia this evening attempt not only to resuscitate their run at this year’s AfCON but also to qualify to the quarterfinals.

And forward Emmanuel Mayuka is optimistic Zambia will qualify to this year’s Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals.

Chipolopolo must beat revelatory Burkina Faso today to secure a place in the next round of the tournament.

Draws against Ethiopia and Nigeria have left Zambia on two points in Group C, with Burkina Faso topping the table on four and requiring only a draw to see them into the last eight.

If the Zambia-Burkina Faso match ends in a draw, the former’s fate will be mathematically decided in Rustenburg, where Nigeria and Ethiopia face off simultaneously.

Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard said his charges would avoid the ignominy of becoming the first defending champions to be eliminated in the first round of the tournament in over twenty years.
