FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) executive committee member Elijah Chileshe might be suspended for allegedly working with Damiano Academy proprietor Damiano Mutale and Zanama secretary Kelvin Chipili to destabilise the running of football.
But Chileshe denied working with the Division Two outfits’ officials to cause anarchy. Football House sources told the Sports Mail in Lusaka yesterday that Chileshe’s case has been included as an agenda item for Saturday’s executive committee meeting. “According to the information that we have, the FAZ president [Andrew Kamanga] is very sure that ba Shenko [Chileshe] is the one who has been inciting Mutale and Chipili to push the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to probe him,” the source said. Three weeks ago, Mutale and Chipili wrote to ACC through their lawyer Iven Mulenga and Partners inquiring why investigations have delayed to probe Kamanga for alleged abuse of office. And Chileshe said from Kitwe yesterday: “I am innocent. I don’t know anything. These allegations are unfounded and untrue. I don’t know why some people are trying to bring my name in things that I don’t know. The fact that I know Mutale and Chipili does not mean I can engage myself in things that people are talking about.”
