Professor Hansungule refuses to be silenced by Zambian government

University of Pretoria law professor Michelo Hansungule says he will continue speaking out against injustice and dictatorship in Zambia and anywhere else as he has always done. Following a complaint from Zambia’s high commission to South Africa Emmanuel Mwamba, the University of Pretoria advised professor Hansungule to stop using university letterheads for his ‘personal’ communications. This was in relation to a letter in which professor Hansangule asked the United Nations to recall its representative in Zambia, Janet Rogan for helping the PF rig the 2016 elections. But Mr Mwamba exploited the professor’s error of judgment in using the University letter heads by causing the University to force the professor to stop using its letterheads without authorization.
