Zesco defers importation of power from South Africa

ZESCO Limited says the importation of 300 Megawatts of power
from South Africa at a cost of US$22 million per month will not commence on 1st
October,2019 as earlier announced. And ZESCO says it is in the process of revising upwards the
current eight hours of load shedding. Speaking when members of the parliamentary committee on energy, water development and tourism conducted a familiarization tour of Kariba North Bank power station in Siavonga, ZESCO acting Managing Director Webster Musonda could not state when the utility will begin importing power from Eskom of South Africa.
