Use Port of Beira — envoyBy Times ReporterINVESTORS managing the Port of Beira in Mozambique and the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) have agreed that Zambian business houses should start using the Port of Beira which will reduce costs because of the short distance.During a meeting held at ZACCI offices in Lusaka yesterday, the Mozambican delegation led by Mozambican Ambassador to Zambia, Maria Mate said Zambian business houses should start using their port because security concerns had been addressed.The port of Beira is 1,054km from Lusaka while Durban which is the other port that Zambians use is about 2,381 km and Dar es Salaam is 1,985 km away from Lusaka.The meeting was also attended by various corporate executives representing firms that deal with import and exports including Zambian Breweries group planning manager Mate Khulila, Patrick Wakalala from BP and ZACCI chief executive officer Prisca Chikwashi.
