Govt’s development efforts delight chiefsBy Times ReporterSOME chiefs from various parts of the country have expressed happiness with the Government’s distribution of inputs for the 2010/11 farming season as well as the development projects that are being implemented in their areas.Chief Shakumbila of the Sala people of Mumbwa District said yesterday that farmers in his chiefdom had received the inputs through the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).He, however, said there was need for the Government to increase the amount of fertiliser in the pack to at least eight bags.”The programme is going on very well. Farmers are receiving the inputs although we want the pack to be increased, we are not complaining,” he said. The chief appealed to the Government to revert to the old system where farmers were paid their money by the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) through local banks in Mumbwa.
