THE Supreme Court has returned the Luampa parliamentary seat to MMD’s Josephine Limata after the petitioner decided to discontinue the matter.

And the Mufumbwe parliamentary seat, which fell vacant after the resignation of MMD member of Parliament Stephen Masumba, has been set for November 8.

Ms Limata, who is North-Western Province Minister, lost the seat through an election petition after Patriotic Front (PF) losing candidate Musangu Muzaza, petitioned her election as Luampa member of Parliament.

The court has given the seat back to Ms Limata after her lawyers and Mr Muzaza’s lawyers informed the court yesterday that the two have agreed that the seat be handed back to her.

Supreme Court judge Marvin Mwanamwambwa, sitting with other Supreme Court judges Munyinda Wanki, Phillip Musonda, Gregory Phiri and Elizabeth Muyovwe, made the ruling in Lusaka yesterday.
