Black Mountain Death Trap Finally Kills

At least ten Kitwe based small scale miners were confirmed dead on June 20, 2018 when a mountain of solidified slug known as Black Mountain caved in and buried them alive. The dead miners were among the more than 50 who were at that time scavenging for remunerative copper concentrate.

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela–Epitome of Black Excellence

Another heavy blow has struck South Africa as Winnie Madikizela–Mandela dies. The former wife of the late President Nelson Mandela died April 2, 2018 after ailing for a long time. The cause of the death, according to family spokesman Victor Dlamini, was an infection that had affected her kidneys. She was 81 years old.

Death by Hunger or by Cholera?

Recently, Zambians were in a dilemma: they could either died of hunger or cholera. This came about in the wake of a cholera outbreak in the capital, Lusaka, which was first reported September 2017. Zesco has managed to convince the Zambians that the massive load shedding they are experiencing is due to the low water level in Lake Kariba. The power utility company has further attributed the diminished quantity of water in the lake to poor rainfall during the 2014/2015 rainy season.
